Lapis Lazuli Tower

Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue metamorphic rock composed primarily of lazurite, along with calcite, pyrite, and other minerals that create its signature speckled appearance. Its rich ultramarine colour comes from sulfur within the lazurite structure. Golden flecks of pyrite add natural sparkle, while white streaks of calcite create contrast and depth.
Geologically, Lapis Lazuli forms in limestone through contact metamorphism, where heat and pressure transform the rock and allow lazurite to crystallize.
 
With a Mohs hardness of 5–5.5, it is moderately soft and best suited for carvings, polished pieces, jewelry, and decorative items.
Historically, Lapis Lazuli has been mined for over 6,000 years, most famously in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan region, which still produces some of the world’s highest‑quality material.
