Black Schorl Tourmaline is the most common variety of Tourmaline, admired for its glossy appearance and remarkable crystal structures. Known as one of the most visually captivating black minerals, it often appears as fine, dense needles within Quartz, where it is known as Tourmalinated Quartz. Tourmaline from the Erongo Mountains is especially prized for its Acicular and "Mercedes" style terminations, found either as individual crystals or in clusters. Adding to their appeal, these specimens frequently occur alongside minerals like Hyalite Opal, Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Feldspar, Fluorite, and Orthoclase.
